South Africa reaches for the stars with SKA
It is
official. The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will be mainly hosted in South
Africa. Two of the three receiver components will be built in Africa and the
third one in Australia. The project promises to transform the Karoo into
the most buzzing hub of information and communication technology in the
world. It is expected to spur economic growth in Southern Africa.
Science
and Technology Minister, Naledi Pandor, hailed the decision as an
acknowledgement of the sterling work by the SKA project team.
